Auger, James. 2012, In Why Robot? Speculative Design, the domestication of technology and the considered future. PhD Thesis. RCA, London.
It is about questioning and criticizing the way we use technologies today. For this purpose, 3 examples are named, which reconfigure existing technology, re-design it. The prototypes develop their own aesthetic experience. As far as I understand it, this goes into the area of "speculative design". This term was coined by British designers and professors Anthony Dunne and Fiona Raby through their book "Speculative Everything: Design, Fiction and Social Dreaming," published in 2013. It's about thinking about how the world might be and how we might best respond to its changes. Sketching the future serves to challenge the status quo.
